Coromandel Peninsula

Another Sunday, another trip. Seems like it becomes a custom.
Anyway, today I have gone to Coromandel Peninsula. Well, actually it was one place in Coromandel Peninsula - Hot Water Beach. The plan was to see a little more then just that beach but my camera’s battery went dead so I decided to spend a little more time on the Hot Water Beach and visit some more of Coromandel some other time.

The first interesting thing i saw was a crash on motorway. Now I know why accidents cause traffic jam. Because all passing idiots make pictures… :-)

Coromandel Peninsula trip 1

Next stop Chile! Seriously… It is just c.a. 8500 km straight East from here.

The view along the Hot Water Beach…

Coromandel Peninsula trip 3

During the low tide You can enjoy the hot sprigns in front of those rocks. I couldn’t take any photos of the steam rising from the sand but belive me, it is hot…

Beer o’clock

That is one nice Kiwi custom… That is what left from English five o’clock tea time.

Goat Island trip

Thanks to the fact that I could use a car I was able to have nice trip to Goat Island Marine Reserve. The first stop on the road was a beach in Orewa. Cool place, but that was just a beginning…

Goat Island trip 1

Finally in Goat Island Reserve. These are my first days with left side driving so the journey is still a little stressful. First view on the left…

Goat Island trip 2

Second view on the right… It is the Goat Island. Fabulous place for snorkeling and scuba diving. I hope to experience both during summer.

Goat Island trip 3

Ducks just like in Poland, but here every male has two wives… :-)

Goat Island trip 4

Some marketing. Nice, little waterfall. It would be beatifull if it wasn’t coming out of a pipe…

Goat Island trip 5

A nice look on a Great Barrier Island

Goat Island trip 7

I wish they have placed that sign at the beginning of the fence before I got shocked for the first time.

Goat Island trip 8

As You can see the Earth really isn’t flat.

Goat Island trip 9

At the end of the walk You reach Cape Rodney and a fabulous view opens in front of You.

Goat Island trip 10

A close-up to the rocks.

Goat Island trip 11

After a short rest at Cape Rodney, I headed further north to Pakiri Beach. On the way there, I have experienced something I didn’t expect in a civilized country. A gravel road. Again it was worth the effort…

Goat Island trip 12

Slightly dramatic image.

Goat Island trip 13

Really nice. It would be even better if it was summer and still as “crowded” as now.

Goat Island trip 14

A rainbow over Pakiri Beach. No, it wasn’t raining… There is just so much humidity.

Goat Island trip 15

That is me on my way back to the car.

Goat Island trip 16

Those flowers seem not to realize that it is the middle of winter.

Goat Island trip 17

And that is Puhai River falling into Hauraki Gulf.

Goat Island trip 18

One final look at the coast.

Goat Island trip 19

That trip was incredile. All that was within an hour drive from Auckland. I think I could really live here.

Thank You Ubuntu!

Linux generaly is great and Ubuntu is even better, but why did it have to format the wrong hard drive? As You can see on the “screen shot” below, the drive that was supposed to be formated was sbd, my external USB drive. Of course Ubuntu partitioner didn’t keep his word and formated the sda which was the main drive of sombody else’s computer. Why Ubuntu? Why?

I had a really nice time living with Sabine, Shannon, Briege, Jenny, Hans and Liquorice (or maybe Licorice) but today I moved to a rented flat and I am really happy about it.

City walk

A sunny Saturady morning is a nice invitation for a walk around the Auckland City.

City walk 1

That is a ferry terminal. Someting like a bus stop in other cities. There is a ferry coming/leaving every few minutes.

City walk 2

A view from Princess Wharf toward the City Tower

City walk 3

This is the yacht that was supposed to bring the America’s Cup to New Zealand, but the competition got a little ugly and finished in court.

City walk 4

Saturday was the day of last Test match. Lion va All Blacks. The city was stuffed with Lion’s supporters and although their team had already lost the series they seemed to have a great time. Of course All Blacks kicked the kitties’ butts…

Look closer to the writing on the back of the red jacket! It says: “My liver is evil and will be punished!“. It was a real “liver holocaust” during the Lion vs All Blacks Series…

City walk 5

Next two pictures show NZ America’s Cup yachts. Right now You can just go for a pleasure cruise on them and if You are lucky You will experience some of the competition when both skippers decide to have a little race.

City walk 6

City walk 7

Sometimes I think I could be homeless. Unless I wasn’t boatless…

City walk 8

Janice of Wyoming. 40m of high-tech luxury.

City walk 9

Yes, You can see the tower from almost every place in Auckland

City walk 10

Friday night…

Well, it’s Friday night so a visit in Liquor World seems to be the right thing to do.

Walk-in fridge

Don’t worry, that all is not just some warm beer standing in the middle of shop. It is a huge, walk-in fridge.
