So fucking important…

Todays NZ Herald:

Best letter to the editor ever: The October issue of Vanity Fair included a profile of Paris Hilton, including a chat with her younger sister Nicky, who asked the following question: “I’m 21 years old, I run two multimillion-dollar companies, I work my ass off. Like, what were you doing that was so fucking important at that age? I feel very accomplished for my age.” A reader responded: “When I was 21, I was busy working toward my PhD in organic chemistry at the University of Minnesota. I was the first to synthesize the compound okadaic acid, shown to be the leading cause of breast cancer. Steven F. Sabes, Minnesota.”

$100 future of computing

So finally we can see the $100 laptop in the real life. Green and running. The impact that it will have on the future education may be huge. An army of kids running computers with an easy to learn and use development environment (Mono?). Programming should be taught like foreign languages nowadays. Guess what kind of software will mostly benefit from that…

BTW, I decided to start learning programming. I have bought some books, downloaded a few others, intalled an IDE and… got stuck. It seems so easy from outside but when You have no real background it is so damn hard to start. On the other hand I am pretty determind to realize a few of my prefect software ideas.
We’ll see…

Back to Auckland

Some say that home is where the heart is. No way! Home is where the bed is. Your own bed. After 4 weeks away from my bed I finally feel like home. That was a really intense and “short” month for me but on the other hand it is a month less to different things like:

some highly desired visitors coming down here,
    summer,
    surfing course,
    next ubuntu release.

Half way home

So, in Singapore again. Good to be on the way to spring, sea and a kind of home…
