So, I’ve just uploaded some of my first geotagged photos to Flickr. Truns out it’s also pretty easy to see them in Google Maps – thanks to Google’s support of free and open standards, in this case GeoRSS. Here’s a link to my Flickr photostream in Google Maps. That’s how it looks in the browser:

I’ve got it and quick! I’m very nicely surprised with the delivery speed. It was ordered on Friday and I got it on Monday morning. Well done FedEx! The online tracking is pretty cool too:
First impressions on the N2 di-GPS mini?
So now I need a weekend with a bit of good weather for a photo trip to test it. That’s going to be a looong week of waiting.
I just got a FedEx tracking number… My new toy is on the way! So, very soon all new pictures on Flickr will be geotagged. Yay! I was actually thinking about something more universal that I could use for navigation and not with just one camera but that thing is really neat. It’s light and small and pictures come geotagged straight out of the camera. With no manual hassle. I only wish I had it half a year ago.
Last week, we’ve had a couple of really warm days and relatively cold night. Coming from Poland, nights in New Zealand get “relatively cold” at most, never “very cold”. :-) Anyway, that combination of temperatures resulted in a few really misty mornings. On one of them I got out to take some shots and it was well worth the effort.

Looks like I’m finally getting somewhere with map layouts. I can already place them on both sides of the central topic. There are still some quirks to iron out but I’m getting there.
On Saturday, I finally managed to migrate Psycho repository from Novell Forge SVN to Google Code SVN. It took a couple of hours and a lot of server errors and so on but it’s done and that’s what counts. So if you’re interested you can check out the source code using that command:
svn checkout http://psycho.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ psycho
I’ve completed that migration using the SVK tool. SVNSYNC somhow didn’t want to work for me. The only issue with the final result is that it looks like all commits (all staggering 194 of them :-) ) have been done on the same day. Well, I can live with that. At least I have all the history. I’ll probably write a short HowTo for other people who want to get away from Novell Forge and land in Google Code repository.
Since MonoDevelop supports Visual Studio solutions I decided to check in the solution files as well. So now, if you check out the code you’ll get the full Visual Studio project that you can easily compile and run. No, I still didn’t get my head around an actual build system. I’ll worry about that when the application is ready for shipping.
A few weeks after my last post, it turned out that RHCP is coming to Auckland to play 2 concerts. Great! No need to fly, just a short walk from home. Well, that would be too easy. Tickets have been sold out within 20 minutes and 1 person got killed by a car when standing in the queue. The tickets are still for sale on internet auctions for c.a. 300 bucks. I think I’ll pass on this one…
A couple of weeks ago Red Hot Chili Peppers announced a concert in Poland. Well, not only in Poland but also in the city where I used to live. To top all of that – it’s on my birthday!
Fabulous, right!? Not quite…
I don’t live there any more. In fact, I live something like 20000 km from there and I won’t be able to afford to fly there for the concert! Crap!

The last couple of weeks Esperanza – the biggest Greenpeace vessel, has been docked to Princess Wharf in Auckland. Around a year ago Le Grand Bleu that was docked in exactly the same place. It was really sad to see how poor Esperanza looks in that comparison. Especially when you realize the purpose that those vessels serve. And now we’re hearing that Roman is having another yacht built for around ÂŁ200 million.
Anyway, I hope this time Auckland will be a happy beginning of a successful journey and not a tragic end like for Rainbow Warrior.
I went to the barber on Saturday morning. It is the same barber since a year and 7 months and I visit him every 4-5 weeks. I always go there on a Saturday morning. I’m usually there by 7.50-8.00 am, so I am almost always the first client that day. I always get the same haircut. So this Saturday was no different. I went there, sat in the chair and then it happened. The barber asked me if I want the usual haircut? It flattered me in a way that I have become the “usual” customer so I answered “Yes, sure”. After the first stripe of 3mm long hair on my head it was obvious that I haven’t be promoted to a “usual” customer – I was just confused with one. So now I look like a convict. Well, at least I get some more time than usual, before going to the barber again… Oh, and no nice 50% Christmas tip for him next year.
